With Light, upon glass strongholds, bounces, I became quite interested in exploring fragility and vulnerability. The piece is filled with intricate counterpoint of brittle figures, juxtaposing the jagged edges of harsh textures with the frail but stark scaffolding as time gradually illuminates each corner and cusp. The performers flirt with different geometries and opacities of colors and textures throughout the work, ultimately converging with one another to expose the intimate and delicate junctures that comprise the work.
Light, upon glass strongholds, bounces was written for Vanessa Ascher and David Therrien-Brongo as part of the 2019 Domaine Forget Festival.
